Tornado was unlike anything moviegoers had seen before when it was released in 1996. The epic disaster film, about a group of amateur storm chasers trying to deploy tornado research in Oklahoma, featured groundbreaking visual effects which captivated the public. The film was a smash hit, grossing nearly $500 million worldwide and earning two Academy Award nominations for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound.
It took over 25 years until it was finally announced that a long-awaited sequel film, titled Tornadoes, spell. In March 2023, it was announced that Daisy Edgar Jones, who rose to fame through her role in normal peoplewould play in Tornadoes.

Tornado 2 Confirmed
Initial plans for a Tornado the Universal Pictures reboot began in June 2020. At the time, Variety reported that Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinsky was in talks to direct the film. More than two years later, in October 2022, Deadline reported that Universal Pictures and Steven SpielbergAmblin Entertainment’s production company was meeting with directors to get started on the sequel, the title of which has been confirmed.
