Sacramento police closed several streets in the city’s downtown area around several federal buildings Thursday morning due to “suspicious circumstances,” authorities said.
Sacramento police did not immediately provide further details about the situation but said a person of interest was detained due to closure.
Police announced just after 8 a.m. that they were helping federal authorities respond to the incident. Around 9:30 a.m., police reopened most streets in the neighborhood except for 5th Street between H Street and I Street.
On Twitter, Sacramento-based attorney Mark Reichel posted a photo of what looked like a police tape around a truck parked in front of the Federal Courthouse on I Street near 5th Street.
This is a developing story.
