According The Hollywood Reportersources claim that Tarantino once wrote a script called The film critic. Although few details are known, the film is said to be set in Los Angeles in the 70s with a female lead.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Tarantino’s latest film may be about prolific film critic Pauline Kael, who spent a brief consulting stint at Paramount in the ’70s. Considering how Once upon a time in Hollywood explored this time period in the industry with its own surprising twist, it might be safe to assume that viewers shouldn’t expect a straightforward period film from the director.
Tarantino has been transparent about his retirement after ten movies for some time now.
“I’ve been doing it for a long time; I’ve been doing it for 30 years. And it’s time to wrap up the show,” he told Chris Wallace on an episode of Who is talking to Chris Wallace? last November.
But he said the details of the movie weren’t finalized at the time. When asked if he knew what his “10th and last film” would be, Tarantino replied: “No, I don’t know at all, because I’m not in a great rush to make my last film either. .”
The award-winning director said he doesn’t want to “become this disconnected old man”.
