Four times MVP Aaron Rodgers, 39, has not only revealed he’s not ready to retire after all, he’s ready to leave the Green Bay Packers for the New York Jets in 2023! In a new interview on The Pat McAfee To show on March 15, the NFL star opened up about his future plans. “We had a nice chat and I told them [the New York Jets], ‘I’m not ready to make a decision on anything. I want to get back to my workouts and see what it feels like to really hit it hard for a week…and see if that drive and passion is still there,” he said during the candid interview.
In February, Aaron spent about four days in “dark” meditation and went away from the world to think about his future plans. Meanwhile, he claimed his team of almost 18 reassured him they had his back. “I wanted to know where [the Packers] would to mentally, and all I was told in the week I was in Green Bay was, ‘Take as long as you want, and we want you to pull out a Packer. You want to come back to play, obviously the door is wide open. So that was the information I was talking about,” he explained. “Now, when I came out of the darkness, something changed. I don’t know exactly what it was, but something changed.
He later reportedly heard from “a lot of people”, including players, that the front office had changed their minds. “It was clear to me at that point that while the Packers were going to say the right thing publicly, they were ready to move on,” he continued, via FoxNews. After that, the Super Bowl champion decided to inquire about “other teams” and “got permission” to have a chat with the Jets. Although no official agreement has been reached, Aaron revealed that, for now, his “intentions” are to play for the New York Jets.

Although it’s not news that Aaron spoke with the Jets, as HollywoodLife previously reported on March 7, it’s news that Aaron’s personal intentions are now crystal clear. At the time, sports journalist Trey Wingo tweeted on March 7 that “according to sources, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets had conversations today. Although nothing is imminent, Rodgers is open to the idea of going to New York. (h/t New York Post). Now, a week later, it’s out of the question what Aaron would like to do. “At this point, as I sit here, I think since Friday I made it clear that my intention was to play and my intention was to play for the New York Jets,” the former beau ‘actress Shailene Woodley added.
A final decision and contract agreements are still pending, however, Aaron made it clear that there is no bad blood between him and his longtime team. “No one has bled green and gold like me. I mean, I love this city,” he said. “I love these supporters. I love this region. He also called it “bittersweet” not to pull a Packer out and that “the game” gave him a “ton”. The accomplished athlete was first drafted by the team in 2005 and went on to win a Super Bowl with them in 2011. “I’m really, really grateful that I got to be the Packers’ starting quarterback for 15 years,” he concluded, before adding, “I love you Green Bay, thank you.”
