A Pennsylvania man has been arrested after allegedly jumping into a sleeping 9-year-old girl’s bed wearing only her underwear and then touching her “inappropriately”, police said.
Paddy Patrick Purcell, 32, was arrested after the little girl woke up at 1am on Sunday to find the half-naked stranger lying next to her in his home in Bensalem.
The girl’s father found Purcell allegedly sitting on his daughter’s bed wrapped in a blanket after running to pick him up, cops say.
She later alleged to police that Purcell had “touched her inappropriately”.
Purcell fled the house before police could arrive, but was found shortly afterwards in his neighboring apartment.
They believe he entered the house through an unlocked door, cops said.
The alleged suspect had left behind his jacket and keys bearing his name, according to court documents obtained by Action News.
The girl’s father, who had described Purcell as a white man with red hair and an Irish accent, said he did not know the suspect.
Purcell was charged with burglary, criminal trespass and indecent assault on a child under 13.
He is being held at Bucks County Correctional Facility on $1 million bail.
